| This page is dedicated to the frivolous and temporary art called wicket art. Once the opening to the kiln has been filled in with bricks it is necessary to seal it to prevent air entering the chamber and affecting the ware. The method I use is to cover sheets of newspaper with clay slip and paste them onto the wicket bricks. This blank canvas can then be painted up during the firing with the freedom of knowing that it has to be destroyed when you unload the kiln. These are recent examples. |
